Lucy + Sam
outdoor wedding photography in Brecon
Brecon. Big wedding. Outdoor.
That was the description when I put myself forward to second shoot along the ever-so-lovely Jo Greenfield in June this year. I had a wedding the next day in Bristol, so it was worth the long ass journey on a very hot weekend down to the Beacons. I was so excited to just shoot with her, to learn from her and see how she does her magic, that I would have probably gone to the moon.
Thankfully Brecon’s a damn site closer than that. I only contemplated leaping into a field for a wee once on the journey down (somewhere near Hay) but I kept on trucking. We could see the wedding field from our Air B&B just over the hedge, and popped down to the field the evening before to see what Lucy and Sam had set up. It looked amazing! Firepits, wildflowers everywhere, colourful ribbons and flags so it was like a mix of a festival wedding and a big ass family wedding. I went to bed staring at a creepy homemade tapestry about a family dog, full of beer and fish and chips, and very excited.
Lucy and Sam’s wedding was big. Jo was definitely not having me on. Family had come from all over the world, and lots of people had pitched in to make their perfect day a reality. The level of detail in this wedding was spot on. They wanted us to capture plenty of fun, chill moments happening between their guests, so it was wonderful to see that they’d provided all the necessary stuff to make them happen (keep your eyes peeled for the coconut shy and hay bale destructo-kids).
Here’s a selection of my favourites.
Thanks for having me, Jo (and Lucy and Sam, of course). Had an amazing time and still in love with this gallery.
