Sophie and Will’s DIY wedding at Mythe Barn
Sophie and Will contacted me about 4 months ago. Their plans were so soon that even my husband, who sees so much of the ‘back end’ of my business (that sounds ruder than I intended, not even going to apologise), remarked how little time this couple was giving themselves to arrange an entire wedding. But sometimes things are just so right that waiting around doesn’t make sense! Why have a long engagement if you don’t think you really need one?
There’s nothing like a hard deadline to concentrate minds
From clothing to flowers to DIY place settings to music, Sophie and Will put their all into making as much of their wedding bits and bobs as they could manage. Given their deadline, this is such a huge task, made even more complicated by fact of their both working as teachers. Actually, it’s probably because they’re teachers that they have the competence and creativity to actually pull it off!
My favourite part of the day was during the ceremony, when Sophie and Will came to say their vows. Despite writing them separately, they made all the same points, even down to Will being able to recount the bits of films that Sophie had dozed off during - a true marker of a strong and healthy relationship. My second part of the day was the endless entertainment provided by Will’s adolescent relatives, which made it seem like a few minions were running riot for the evening.
