Lizzie - a Year in the Life pt. 1

Six months on from Lizzie’s birth, we finally got round to her first shoot! It feels like I start every blog post at the moment with “but 2020….” and here we are again. Actually though, meeting Lizzie was wonderful. While it was initially planned that I would document her entry into the world, her mum Lianne instead opted to go for a Year in the Life package with me.

In this first of three shoots, we had lots of feeds and cuddles, plus a sink bath and a good long nap for good measure. Lianne is a photographer herself, and knows the importance of childhood photos. She also knows the importance of being in them herself, so her kids don’t look back at photos she’s taken and wonder why she’s not in them. It’s always nerve wracking documenting another photographer’s life, but Lianne is just so easy going that I think we put each other at ease.

After our shoot together I received the loveliest email from her:

It’s exactly what I was looking for and I’m so pleased with them. I’ve always avoided being in front of the camera but I absolutely love these photos of me and Lizzie. I don’t see my weight I see a mum full of love for her baby and a happy Lizzie. Lots of photos of happy Lizzie haha. I think that is on large part down to you and how relaxed you made us feel. But also the way you photographed us, you captured our love.
