Zoe and Ash’s Wedding at Lost, Wirral | Lost Wirral Wedding Photography
A Small Do
Where do I begin to talk about Zoe and Ash’s wedding day? They got married at Lost, Wirral, at the end of May. It was surprisingly hot, a bit emotional, but mostly just absolutely stuffed with joy. Zoe and Ash are a chill couple, so they were planning for most of the day to be a rather intimate party of just 24 people, with more friends and family joining later on. Lost at Clatterbridge, Wirral, was the perfect setting for this.
Everything They Did
Upstairs is a blank slate type space, tastefully decorated with white drapes and fairy lights for their intimate ceremony. Zoe was walked down the aisle by her grandma (yes it was gorgeous), two close friends performed readings and they ended by throwing confetti about outside. They eschewed long speeches in favour of a few words from Zoe’s mum - and a few choice swears from her little nephew - before downing a shot and getting on with their party. An acoustic singer played on the indoor balcony while people took drinks downstairs and the ceremony/meal space was transformed into a dancefloor. (She was amazing by the way - check out Sophie Bernicefor your wedding). A DJ played a few songs to get the dancefloor going, and by this point Zoe and Ash had been joined by loads of friends and family. It got hot quickly, so everyone escaped outside for a breath of air where they found a rodeo bull fully going for - you can guess what happened next…
Portraits without Posing
My favourite part of the wedding day was when Zoe and Ash read their private vows to each other during their couples portraits/photoshoot. As a documentary wedding photographer, I spend a 95% of the day photographing things as they naturally unfold. I don’t need to micromanage anything, and the moments I capture are real, happening before my eyes. But I think that couple photos are important, and need a vague structure to make sure they look good, feel comfortable and don’t take too much time. The decision to read deep and meaningful promises to one another ensured all of this, and it’s something I’d definitely recommend to other couples looking for something beautiful without wanting to take too long or feel too posed.

An honourable mention goes to Bev, Lost’s stellar wedding coordinator. She fully got into the vibe of the day, and was a huge comfort to Ash when a key relative was unable to attend due to illness. No problem was too big, and she definitely became part of the day.
