An outdoor wedding in a Cheshire field

DIY Weddings have had a special place in my heart ever since my own wedding in 2014. Weddings are such a wonderful opportunity for self-expression that most couples like to craft and create some things for themselves, but it can be hard to know where to begin. I’ve put together this short post with some DIY wedding decor/theme ideas to inspire you.

Jam and Sam’s outdoor DIY wedding with Celestial Vibes

Jasmin and Sam (AKA Jam and Sam) had an outdoor ceremony and crafted pretty much every single part of their day. They had a blank canvas to work with - a bare field near Crewe in Cheshire - and a vision to have a day filled with fun. A large marquee was put up, with space for several long tables and a dancefloor. Jas’s grandma was the flowergirl, and guests sat on bleachers style benches for the ceremony, which was led by a bridesmaid/celebrant. The outdoor space was used for garden games, a breakout room in the shape of a bell tent, a ‘Thirst Aid’ booze tent, and a bathtub filled with cold drinks and ice lollies. Guests made cakes and entered them into a bake off style competition, then a DJ arrived for the evening. Jam and Sam also self-created an order of the day, a glitter bar, and a photobooth.

Jam and Sam’s wedding was associate shot for Emma McNair in August 2021. The photos shown here were taken by Caroline Goosey and are being shared for inspiration for DIY weddings.
