Shoot Day at Clapton Country Club

There are some venues that are just awesome. Glasshouses, architecturally unique buildings, historic buildings, and old mills are all amazing, and as a Peak District loving photographer I’m absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to awesome venues. But there are some places you can only find in London, and Clapton Country Club is one of them. It’s a place I’ve lusted after on Instagram for years. I love its dilapidated walls, the cobbled street outside, the fact that the ceremony room is called The Department of Life and its subversion of the words “country club”. It speaks to my inner hipster in a big way. This is a venue where you can eat your almond croissant, sip your flat white and tap your DMs on the parquet floor with impunity.

So you can imagine how excited I was when Fresh Meat launched a workshop there in September! I was there like a shot. After so long not shooting wedding type stuff I just wanted an excuse to go somewhere new, meet new people (real people! In front of me! Not in my phone!) and get creative. The full list of suppliers involved is at the bottom of this post.

Electric Feels

This workshop involved 2 different looks, and the first I’m showing here is Electric Feels. Pastel colours are amazing for late summer, but I think they could work equally well in winter. This section of the shoot was all about glitter and light, and worked well outdoors (that backdrop!) I’m not usually one for balloon installations because of eco-concerns, but I can see the appeal from this one. The models in this shoot are a real couple, hence snuggles.

Rock n roll romantics

Edgy, dark, luxe and full of swagger. The couple featured here had never met each other before, which meant finding ways to pose (or not, as the case may be) without making them feel mega awkward.
