Tucked away in the Cheshire countryside is a hidden gem of a wedding venue. A place for adventurers, people who like to hold quite big birds, and throw weapons. Cheshire Woodland Weddings doubles as an outdoor activity centre, meaning you can wield axes and knives on your wedding day if you fancy it. It also means an outdoor wedding ceremony, an owl delivering the rings and more woodland goodness than you can shake a stick at. Not an easy task, given the woodland is the natural place for lots of sticks.

So in the middle of May 2023, the sun beamed down, the birds were held, and arrows shot through the air. Ailsa and Tom got their outdoor ceremony, and the day just flowed perfectly. From downing a shot before walking back down the aisle together, to flinging weaponry about, a bunch of perfectly executed speeches and an absolutely banging portion of fish and chips, Ailsa and Tom celebrated the way they wanted to. I was personally extremely impressed by the capacity of Ailsa’s veil, and the quest to discover exactly how many people can fit underneath it. And in case you were wondering, a replica sword from The Witcher isn’t the best implement for slicing a caterpillar cake, but it’ll do in a pinch. If you push down quite hard.
