Photograph of a man and woman in the grounds of Didsbury House Hotel. They're an alternative couple - both with extremely impressive earrings. They have just got married and are having portraits taken.

Jo and Ian tied the knot earlier this week in the spring sunshine. They chose to have their wedding day at Didsbury House Hotel, a boutique hotel between Manchester and Stockport - perfect setting for an intimate wedding. I joined them for part of their day, so I could photograph their ceremony, group photos with family and friends, some portraits of Jo and Ian, and some candid moments before they sat down to eat their wedding breakfast.

Don’t be fooled by what I’ve mentioned so far - this wedding was not a traditional affair. The couple said their own vows, went to town with a Brooklyn Nine Nine theme (double points for anyone who gets the balloon arch gag) and steered clear of traditional wedding garb. If I’m remembering rightly, the song that played while they signed the register was Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire. The cherry on the cake was everyone getting a sticker of Jo’s dad’s face, a badge of honour for engaging in a lengthy conversation with him. Neither me nor even the babies were safe.

Without further ado, here are some of their wedding photos
