Outdoor Wedding in the Peak District - Claire and Stephen

Claire and Stephen got married at the Peak District Holiday Barn, which is a quirky barn in Wardlow Mires with epic views.

The ceremony was a beautiful service held in the barn which had been decorated with greenery and white drapes, with touches of green, ivory and gold all over the room., and the reception took place at the same place. They had the usual flowergirls and some of the best bridesmaids I’ve ever met, and an adult man chucking flower petals around on the aisle with tons of panache (everyone should have an adult flower boy, they’re spectacular). During the ceremony Claire sang with her barbershop quartet, an owl delivered the rings and they said their own vows. It was so meaningful. In fact, the meaningful performances just kept on coming. I lost count of the number of times I was pulled to the side by their friend and flower boy, Owen, to tell me the bridal party had planned something special and meaningful for the couple.

The first plan was having two owls, but only telling Claire about one. The second owl was a tawny, for Claire and her father to spend a few minutes with together because he’d given Claire a cuddly tawny owl toy as a child. The second surprise was a flash mob style performance before the cake cutting. In addition to Claire being in a barbershop quartet, Stephen’s also in a boy band. So the two combined their efforts and harmonised like crazy through a Stevie Wonder number, completely unbeknownst to the couple.

Wardlow Mires is one of the coolest places to have a wedding in the Peak District – it is perfect for couples who want a chilled out wedding, and offers complete artistic license to decorate. There are so many beautiful spots that are perfect for photo ops. Weddings at Peak District Holiday Barn are amazing, because it’s not got any set plans or staff, so you can choose exactly what you want to do and how you want to spend your time. It's the perfect rural DIY wedding venue!

I’ve got lots of photos to share and in a few a weeks I’ll share their video too, so be sure to pop back and check that out.
