Just here for the photos? They’re at the bottom of the text.

Rachael and Matt are both teachers. They are efficient, organised, thoughtful, and perfect wedding planners. They tied the knot at Hooton Pagnell Hall, near Doncaster, on Thursday and it went without a single hitch. Even the rain shower had been prepared for!

I started documenting the morning with Rachael and her bridesmaids as they got ready upstairs in the main house, and sent my second shooter, Dave, to hang out with Matt for a short while. Suited and booted, everyone headed over the lawn to the summer house for the ceremony. What’s particularly sweet about this is that, as Hooton Pagnell is an old estate, the summer house was the school room! Perfect for these two.

Next was canapés and group photos, then the rain came and everyone mingled indoors until it was time to move to the barn for speeches. What I really loved about photographing a wedding at Hooton Pagnell is how much space there is. This sprawling estate encompasses a large house with two well lit reception areas, a courtyard that’s perfect for group photos, lots of guest bedrooms and even a boutique hotel, a lawn with a view over Yorkshire, manicured gardens, and a separate barn. The main benefit to all this space is that you never get turfed out of one area so they can turn it around, and with the team hosting a maximum of two weddings a week this venue never feels like wedding factory.

Dinner was followed by speeches and dancing. Guests were kept busy with a game of pegs - the aim of which is to attach pegs to people without them noticing. You can imagine the jokes that followed…
