Niamh + Oli’s summer wedding at The plough inn congleton
An untraditional traditional wedding
Niamh and Oli covered a small, old-school pub space in twinkly lights, found a warm and inviting celebrant called Connie, and invited family from all over the UK and Ireland to gather together and celebrate their wedding. Not knowing who would go first when they got to the declaration part of the ceremony, they played rock paper scissors. And then they drank some cider, to toast the beginning of their married life together. In so many ways, they ditched tradition in favour of doing everything their own way. And in some ways, they kept to tradition. I think this is the key to having a wedding you truly enjoy - make it your own. Keep what you understand and want to do, and get rid of everything else.
Can’t agree on your evening playlist and don’t want to risk a dodgy DJ taking requests for agadoo? A silent disco might just do it - which is what Niamh and Oli chose. Don’t want to stick to the speech tradition of bride’s dad, best man and grooms man? Don’t. Niamh and her sister both gave lovely speeches in addition to the usual line up. Don’t want to lug your massive dress around on a small dancefloor? Get changed! Niamh showed up after their first dance wearing a minidress, and she looked absolute fire.
I could go on about how amazing their day was, or I could just show you…
