Wedding Highlights Videos

Documentary wedding photography meets video

Wedding highlights films are short, sweet videos that I shoot alongside your photography. Consider them a bitesize overview of your wedding day - something you can share, something you can watch whenever you want a quick pick me up. It’s like flipping through an album, but with movement!

Highlights films are shot with the same documentary ethos that goes through all my photography, so I’m not bringing extra equipment, shot lists or my own agenda to your video. I’m looking for real moments in a hands-off way, so I won’t ever direct you, ask you to do things twice or recreate a genuine moment.

Wedding highlights films are available for all bookings of any length, as a standalone service or alongside your wedding photography.

made to share

All About Wedding Highlights Films

When I make them together with your photos.

Basically, I do both at the same time. I toggle between photo and video all day, so you’ve got no clue what craftiness is going on in my camera. Sometimes it makes sense to separate the photo and video, so I might recommend that a second shooter is videoing your wedding, but I’ll discuss this with you at booking.

They’re short and snappy - and crammed to the rafters with awesome details.

The more stuff going on in the day, the more stuff you’ll have in your video. If I’m shooting video and photos together, your highlights film will probably clock in at 3-5 minutes. I prefer quick cuts and lots of movement to static, romantic snoozefests, and will capture a range of things to showcase the best bits of your day in all its glory.

Sound schmound.

I don’t always record sound because, as a photographer, I’m all set for eye stuff rather than ear stuff. But my camera has a microphone and sometimes, just sometimes, I use ambient sound from it in the wedding films.

Music Licensing

I buy a fresh license for every highlights film, and I try to match the choice to the couple and vibe of their day. The songs I use are licensed from MusicBed and Lickd, which means a real musician gets a real pay cheque each time someone like me buys the rights to use their work in my work - pretty nifty eh? It’s by far the most straightforward way to make these things, because people like Bono and Gary off of Take That don’t tend to answer their emails to see if I can use their songs.

That’s my video stuff, in a nutshell.
